Commission for Pien
A special commission I did recently! ๐
My friend Pien asked me if I could create an original piece for her sister, who’s pregnant. She sent me a picture of her sisterโs ultrasound, and I did my best to create a DOTSbyGemma-style version of the echo. ๐จ
It was definitely a challenge, but I’m super happy with how it turned out! ๐

My biggest DOT so far….
Tadaaaaa! My biggest watercolor DOT ever! I worked on this large DOT for a full two months. The round plate (our old dining table) had been sitting in the attic for a while. After some time, I thought, ‘Hey, I work with circles, this is a great surface, should I give it a try?!’ It was such a joy to work on such a large scale, but also a real challenge at the same time. I’m so proud of the result!

Education program ‘Backwards, upside down…’ @MuseumDeWieger
Last week marked the launch of our new permanent program: “Backwards, upside down” for children age 6 to 8. The museum educators are completely flustered because they have to give a very important tour. The question is whether the children can help them bring order to the chaos. While the museum educators are still opening the door in their pajamas, the hope is that together with the children, they can restore peace in the museum. The programs were developed by program maker Isa van Berlo and me. We have worked together for almost three years to set up the permanent education programs for De Wieger. For the beautiful illustrations, we once again collaborated with Imke Geertman-Meeusen.

Education childrens program for Museum De Wieger
Last week we launched our permanent program: “How to cook a work of art?!” for children between the age of 4 and 6. The children go on a search in the museum for the right ingredients to cook a work of art. They do this with the help of our museum educators and cheerful spoons. They gather all the colors, shapes, and materials needed. All the ingredients go into the pan and… will they manage to cook a work of art?I developed the programs together with program maker Isa van Berlo. We have been working together for almost three years to set up the permanent educational programs for De Wieger. From grant applications and planning on paper to testing the last two new programs this week, and everything in between. For the beautiful illustrations, we collaborated once again with Imke Geertman-Meeusen.
